discover... BOONE COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY MARCH 2015 Discover, explore, experience a lifetime of learning. L BCP More than 100 years ago, the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville met for the fi rst time on the basketball court. In 1983, the intrastate rivals faced each other in the original "Dream Game." Meet Fightin' Words authors, Ryan Clark of Burlington and Joe Cox of Bowling Green at the Main Library on Tuesday, March 31 at 7 p.m. They will share the inside stories of the notable games and other meetups that helped form this infamous rivalry. Other tales will include how Louisville coach Denny Crum out-recruited Joe B. Hall to gain Louisville's best high school athletes, how Rick Pitino had a dominant tenure at UK, then left to become the Cardinals' coach, how John Calipari brought UK back on top, and much more. Clark and Cox will read from, discuss and sign copies of their book. Fightin' Words: Kentucky vs. Louisville Basketball In our desire to turn basketball's March Madness into a library event, we've selected 64 of our favorite books across four major genres and decided to set them loose in a tournament inspired arena. Sixteen books will battle in each category: Fiction & Literature, Mysteries & Thrillers, Science Fiction & Fantasy, and Young Adult. Our top 16 (randomly paired) in each category all begin on an even footing. Only one will come out as the best book. Brackets will be available starting February 15. You can pick up a bracket at any BCPL location or print your own at www.bcpl.org/book-madness.pdf. Turn your completed bracket in to any location by March 15. Beginning March 16, you will have a chance to cast your vote on our webpage (www.bcpl.org) for your favorite book. As Book Madness goes on through April 22, books will either succeed or fail based on your votes. Voting will open on Tuesday each week and close Wednesday at 11:59 p.m. Each week, as books are eliminated, you will have a chance to vote. Entries that correctly predicted the championship title will be entered into a drawing for a Reader's Basket. Five Reader's bas- kets will be given away. Good luck and remember to vote early and vote often to ensure your brackets are not busted.
